After Vectoring:
This project took me FOREVER, but I think it was worth it. Around the eyes and mouth I made vector shapes almost the size of the individual squares of color that make up the photo, so it took a long time, but it made those areas look very realistic. The hair was also a challenge, but I really like the way it turned out. I think this project taught me to pay attention to detail and do my best work, even if it is a frustratingly long process, and even if I'm way past the deadline. I am also much more familiar with Illustrator after this project; now I'm basically a pro with the pencil tool.
Something else valuable about this project was how the layering of the colored vectors showed me how seemingly three dimensional images are created with different shades of light and dark colors and in what order you can create them. I think that this was very valuable to my understanding of recreating photos, shading, and painting subjects in general. I think I might finally understand how to make a digital painting, even though this project had absolutely nothing to do with that.
